2012 Thurber Prize for American Humor
The Thurber Prize for American Humor is the only recognition of the art of humor writing in the United States. A panel of national judges selects the three finalists from a selection of seven or eight semi finalists. Books and eBooks published in 2011 are eligible to be submitted for the 2012 Thurber Prize.
Each year, the winner is announced at an event at The Algonquin Hotel in New York City where James Thurber once lived. However due to the hotel’s refurbishing, this year the ceremony will be held on Monday, October 1 at Caroline’s Comedy Club on Broadway. The winner of the prize receives $5,000 and then is the guest entertainment for the annual December Thurber Birthday Gala the following year.
All submissions for the Thurber Prize for American Humor must be received by Monday, April 2, 2012.
