SEPTEMBER 25 & OCTOBER 2
Bringing Your Characters to Life
Are your characters lying listless on the page? Are you in search of ways to make them more compelling and authentic? In this new two-part class aimed at writers at all levels, we’ll explore several techniques, including mimicry and dialogue, to develop and bring your characters to life. We’ll read short story and novel excerpts as examples of effective ways to do this. All you’ll need is pen and paper. Get ready for fun writing exercises to help turn those drab characters into wildly fascinating people.
Lisa Lopez Snyder’s short stories have been featured in several publications including The Raleigh Review, The Foliate Oak Literary Magazine, The Scrambler, and other literary journals. Her essay, “In Transit,” won The Chattahoochee Review’s 2011 Lamar York Prize for Nonfiction and she was named the 2015 Carl Sandburg Writer-in-Residence.
