Building Your Author Platform: How to Build a Network and Audience to Attract Book Publishers
Instructor: Brooke Preston
In today's climate, publishers still care about content . . but they increasingly also care about an author's “platform.” Even a great premise may be passed by if an author is perceived to have insufficient connections or social heft to sufficiently propel the book's promotion. What's a non-celebrity author to do?
This workshop, taught by Brooke Preston (writer, satirist, editor and co-author of the recently published book New Erotica for Feminists: Satirical Fantasies of Love, Lust and Equal Pay), will help authors and potential authors identify, build, and present their platforms on social media, book proposals, and in "real life,” and position themselves and their work to become more desirable to publishers. Brooke will share firsthand information gathered in meetings with numerous top publishing imprints to help optimize your personal network and brand for publishing success.
