Ghost Writing Workshops

Ghouls, goblins and giggles, oh my! Join us this fall as we create our own ghosts stories sure to surprise and cause shrieks of laughter. If you are in 4th through 6th grade, sign up at one of your local libraries for our Ghost Writing Workshops where you work as a group to write a ghost story. With guidance from our teachers Kathy Matthews and Valerie Cumming, you’ll learn how Thurber created his hilarious and spooky ghost story and how you can incorporate suspense, ghosts and humor all into one tale!
Come back to Thurber Center for the celebration party where there will be crafts, tours of the “haunted” Thurber House and you can see your ghost story acted out! The night wraps up with light refreshments and you’ll receive a booklet with all the ghost stories.
The workshop and party are free but you do have to register at the library you plan to attend. You do not want to miss out on the fun!
If you have any questions, please contact Katie Poole at kpoole@thurberhouse.org. The Ghost Writing Workshops are a collaboration of Thurber House, the Columbus Metropolitan Library and the Bexley Public Library.
Instructors: Kathy Matthews and Valerie Cumming are both freelance writers who have taught various classes at our Summer Writing Camp, Writing Wizards classes and our Fable Writing Workshops.
The schedule for the 2013 workshops will be posted in the fall of 2013. Check back with us for more detials!
